/our credo

Love is in the center.

Mahtabe’s articles of incorporation were processed and stamped in the State of New York on February 14, 2019. Valentine’s Day.

More than mere coincidence, it is a symbol for our general philosophy and approach to the work of solving poverty.

Very often, the line between selflessness and selfishness gets blurred. Humanitarian and philanthropic aid can be masked with agenda-driven religious and political ideology. Mahtabe casts no judgment about this approach, but observes it treats vulnerable people as a means to an end and is essentially unkind for all parties involved.

“We put love and kindness in the center of everything.”

Though we rather let our actions speak the words, let us be clear: Mahtabe recognizes the unity of world religions and does not push any form of ideology through its work. Similarly, Mahtabe does not endorse any political party nor pushes any form of dogma.

For its own sake, we put love and kindness in the center of everything. In emails. In presentations and budgets. Into our daily routines. And into our formal offerings because it is our privilege, responsibility, and heart’s joy to be involved in this work.
